XIU XIU remixes Body Stuff track "New York in the Rain"

Jamie Stewart, mastermind of long-running experimental act Xiu Xiu, has remixed Body Stuff's song "New York in the Rain."

Stewart and Body Stuff's Curran Reynolds have been in contact for years but this is their first collaboration.

Reynolds says: "It's been an honor to collab with Jamie on this. I have lived in NYC since the late '90s and I wrote 'New York in the Rain' about my life here, looking back on 20 years of high highs and low lows. Now here we are in this new crisis and NYC has been hit hard. I dedicate this new version of "New York in the Rain" to all the people of NYC."

The original version of "New York in the Rain" appears on Body Stuff's third EP, Body Stuff 3, released in January 2020 via The Chain, the company Reynolds co-founded with Three One G Records owner Justin Pearson and graphic designer Brandon Gallagher.

A recent review in The Wire Magazine described the Body Stuff sound: “They spiral through Damned/Misfits/Cult-style goth punk, Replacements-ish doomed romanticism and dissolute synth-assisted stadium rock, abetted by a drum machine whose brutally basic patterns echo the mechanical pound of Big Black, Godflesh and early Sisters of Mercy... It's hugely evocative stuff."
