Steve Moore is renowned as a solo artist and as co-founder of the synth-heavy prog duo Zombi, along with collaborations with the likes of Goblin. Overcalc is the solo project of Nick Skrobisz, frontman of singular noise rock trio Multicult.
Moore's electronic landscapes evoke films of the late '70s and early '80s, scored by the likes of Vangelis and Tangerine Dream, as well as minimal techno; Skrobisz' discordant, euphoric guitar work owns its own space between punk and prog. The awesome clash of these two visionaries' styles, witnessed for the first time on Calyx, introduces an unprecedented new sound.
Calyx is the newest gem in SGG's formidable catalog, alongside releases by Oxbow & Peter Brötzmann, Glenn Branca, and Shit and Shine, as well as various works from Moore's and Skrobisz's other projects.
