"[Bummer] demonstrate influences ranging from Slayer to the Melvins to Unsane, offering up a smoothly predatory riff that lurks from the shadows before springing for the kill. It’s angry and raw and evil, yes, but it’s also groovy and tasty and methodical, and the crunch calls to mind delicious candy bars as much as it does broken bones."

"Bummer plays rock for the Stone Age... primal, Neanderthal, noise rock, sludge."
–The Kansas City Star

From Kansas City, Missouri, Bummer are purveyors of supreme Heartland noise-rock, honed to perfection over the past several years through tours with bands like Whores. and Wrong. New album Holy Terror is the band's debut full-length and it finds the trio in peak form, charging through the wheat fields with all the irreverence of The Melvins and the harshness of Unsane.
Bummer's noise-rock falls on the sludgiest, ballsiest edge of the spectrum. Guitarist/vocalist Matt Perrin, bassist Mike Gustafson, and drummer Sam Hutchinson deliver every single hit, strum, and yell like they mean it. Holy Terror's opener "Hexxx Games" is a 12/8 call-to-arms that rocks with Big Business-level urgency. Tracks like "Astro Bastard" and "Total Recall" see the band slide into a more metallic zone with Slayer-ized rhythm guitars. The energy never wanes.
Perrin says, "Watching myself mature from adolescence to adulthood... This record is about fucking up and trying to learn from it. What it means to put one foot in front of the other and the reason to get out of bed each morning."
Hustling since 2012, Bummer has made its mark locally, with The Kansas City Star hailing its "primal, Neanderthal, noise rock, sludge," and its tours with the likes of Whores. have turned some heads around the country – but Holy Terror is the album that will really put this band on the map as the force it is. The world is in good hands with young bands like Bummer carrying our best traditions forward.
Holy Terror was recorded and mixed by Justin Mantooth (Radkey, Godmaker) at Westend Record Studios in Kansas City, KS. It was mastered by Mike Nolte at Eureka Mastering. The cover art was created by Zach Bauman and Josh Wilkinson.
Minneapolis label Learning Curve Records, home to music by Plaque Marks, Vaz, and Hammerhead, will release Holy Terror on vinyl and digital. High Dive Records will handle cassette and CD versions.
Bummer will be touring throughout 2018, including upcoming shows with Unsane and Big Business.
