Produced by Jim Ward of At The Drive-In and Sparta, Invisible Self is an immersive experience: nine intense, radiant songs whose emotional weight and ironclad songcraft bear traces of Ward's bands as well as Quicksand, Hum, and Drive Like Jehu (whose song "If It Kills You" inspired the band name).

"It was super inspiring to work with Jim on this record," says If It Kills You drummer Tyler Patterson. "Jim’s musical career itself is a huge influence on us. We are huge fans of At the Drive In and Sparta."

Invisible Self is the Bakersfield, California band's second full-length album.

"Invisible Self was produced by Jim Ward of Sparta and At the Drive In and opening track 'Parallel Lines' features guest guitar by Shelby Cinca of Frodus. They're clearly in great company, and it's no surprise that greats like Jim and Shelby wanted to work with them; 'Parallel Lines' is a genuinely great song with a big, soaring hook that really rivals the '90s bands who influenced it."
–BrooklynVegan

“If you’re looking for atmospheric post-hardcore packed with dissonant guitar hooks and big vocal melody lines, If It Kills You should take care of that itch.”
–No Echo

“The new record by If It Kills You is post-hardcore at its most exuberant. It features nine chiseled, shimmering songs…”
–The Big Takeover

"Produced by Jim Ward of At The Drive-In and Sparta... Soaked in intensity and radiance."

GOD MOTHER - Obeveklig

GOD MOTHER: Dillinger Escape Plan-endorsed Swedes return with vicious new "Obeveklig" EP; new music video streaming now

Swedish band God Mother announces the May 6th release of its new EP, Obeveklig.

Stream the official music video for the EP's first single, "Teething," directed by Ben Levin of Bent Knee, here: https://metalinjection.net/video/god-mother-drops-super-chaotic-new-song-teething

Pre-order Obeveklig (digital and vinyl), here: https://godmothersverige.bandcamp.com/

Obeveklig is Swedish for "relentless," and God Mother's approach on its new EP is indeed, relentless. The Stockholm four-piece barrels forth as if they have exhumed the most epic moments of early Converge and The Dillinger Escape Plan, boiled them down and used them as rocket fuel. Obeveklig is God Mother's first new work to be released in almost 5 years and it is startlingly lean and mean – the sound of a chained dog released from its cage.

The Dillinger Escape Plan founder/guitarist Ben Weinman, who released God Mother's 2017 album, Vilseledd, on his label, Party Smasher Inc, and who gave the band an opening slot on one of TDEP's final farewell shows in New York that year, delivered this endorsement: "After 20 years of touring the world and playing thousands of shows with thousands of bands, it is hard to impress me. But Sweden has done it again. God Mother is an undeniable 'force majeure' that demands attention like bands did in the old days, by just being that fucking good. Torch, officially passed!"

Pitchfork's review of Vilseledd upon its release, read: "Sweden’s God Mother blend d-beat, grind, math rock, and more, contorting tradition rather than kowtowing to it... The quartet are miles ahead of their peers..."

In the years since 2017, God Mother toured the US with the likes of Cult Leader and The Number Twelve Looks Like You, played numerous festivals around the world (Obscene Extreme, Brutal Assault, ArcTanGent, and more), and wrote the songs that would become Obekevlig. "Musically, on this EP, we were influenced by bands that we toured with," states drummer Michael Dahlström. "Seeing other great acts live always inspires you to get better."

The experience of living in the COVID-19 era has been an influence on the band as well. Like most bands on Earth, God Mother was stopped in its tracks by the global events of early 2020; the ravenous energy heard on Obeveklig is that of a band raring to go after an unplanned hiatus. Furthermore, all four band members switched careers during the pandemic and half of them became fathers. The urgency of Obeveklig is the sound of a band with a heightened awareness of the fact that life is change, life is transformation, and all we have is the present day.

Obeveklig was engineered by Staffan Birkedal at Soundtrade Studios in Stockholm; it was mixed and mastered by Cult of Luna drummer Magnus Lindberg at Redmount Studios. The cover art was created by God Mother vocalist Sebastian Campbell.

Tracklist:
1) Host Body
2) Teething
3) Köttkropp
4) Tunnel Form
5) Di$ney Jail

Lineup:
Sebastian Campbell - vocals
Max Lindström - guitar
Daniel Noring - bass
Michael Dahlström - drums

Discography:
Maktbehov - 2015 - self-released
Vilseledd - 2017 - Party Smasher Inc

Out today: KONTUSION

The self-titled debut EP by Kontusion is out today.

“Repulsion’s ramshackle brutality most heavily informs Kontusion — Moore and Bronzino don’t play so much as they splatter, bursting through four songs of decaying VHS scum on their self-titled debut. Nothing’s gonna get that stink off when you listen to this – don’t wear your good, four-sided long-sleeve.”

–SPIN

"Guitarist/vocalist Mark Bronzino is an underground, hardcore-punk pioneer from New Jersey who played in a slew of bigger metal bands... He’s even collaborated with underground hip-hop weirdo Ghostemane. In the early pandemic days of 2020, he teamed up with his old friend Chris Moore, drummer of Repulsion, Coke Bust, and many other bands, to start the old-school death metal band they’d been dreaming of for years..."
–High Times

“The utterly hellish vocals sound like a smoldering wave of infernal fires splashing and spitting up against the cavernous abyss below, while the instrumentation blasts forward with a savage aggression, at one point snapping into a humongously chuggy mosh part."
–Revolver

"Kontusion – the new death metal project of guitarist/vocalist Mark Bronzino (Mammoth Grinder, Ghostemane) and drummer Chris Moore (Repulsion, Coke Bust, The Rememberables)... taps right into the raw, gnarly sounds of '80s death metal."
–BrooklynVegan

"A raw, hateful assault of primitive death metal fortified with punishing d-beats and seasoned with manic solos."
–Decibel

"If you know and love old school death metal, Kontusion is literally a no-brainer... From the brutality to the atmosphere, from how the songs are constructed and the riffs are written, this shit is on fire."
–No Clean Singing

"This slab of putrified death is at once raw and classic yet fresh and morbid as hell, just BEGGING for fans all across the more extreme side of metal to experience the thrill ride that’s been nearly fifteen years in the making."
–Nine Circles

"The four tracks here are packed with riffs and violence, a rowdy burst of fury that feels timeless and urgently fresh. This is a punisher."
–Meat Mead Metal

"Anyone prone to gear up on extremist crust and old school death rides will appreciate the cavernous, noisome and yet still riff-capable realm they’ve achieved within these ~17 minutes."
–Grizzly Butts

"Kontusion's take on death metal is raw and forceful, combining elements of the punk scene with the more technical-oriented metal style."
–Scene Point Blank

"Old school dungeon dwelling death metal for the freaks, heretics and outcasts... A skull blasting hell rager."
–Two Guys Metal Reviews

"The self-titled debut EP from Kontusion is death metal untainted by contemporary thoughts or spruced-up production."

MORAL PANIC - "T-Rex"

MORAL PANIC: NYC punks premiere new track "T-Rex" from "White Knuckles" seven-inch

New York City punks Moral Panic have revealed "T-Rex," the new single from their upcoming White Knuckles seven-inch.

Recorded by Joe Hogan (Ronnie Spector, Murphy's Law), the seven-inch drops this Friday, March 18th, via Robellion Music. Available in black and orange, the vinyl version includes a cover of Big Black's "Colombian Necktie," not available digitally. Buy it, here: https://www.robellion.com/moral-panic-7-white-knuckles-orange-vinyl-edition/

Moral Panic's wild-eyed, garage-rockin’ punk rock fury has been hailed by Maximumrocknroll with these words: “This is punk rock. This thing just shreds. At times I’m reminded of Dead Boys, only amped up a tad." Led by frontman Daniel Kelley, backed by the new rhythm section of Michael Dimmitt and Eric Robel, the trio's collective resumé includes bands such as Livids, The Heroine Sheiks, and Overdose.

In Kelley's words: "I think Moral Panic has always had a hard time fitting in. We are generally too rock n' roll for the punks and too punk for the rock n' rollers!"

KONTUSION - "Unrelenting Pain"

KONTUSION: Repulsion, Ghostemane members unite under old-school death metal banner; new "Unrelenting Pain" music video now streaming

Death metal super-duo Kontusion has premiered its new single and music video, "Unrelenting Pain."

The track appears on the band's self-titled debut EP, set for a March 25th release.

Stream the video, directed by Faiza Kracheni, here: https://www.revolvermag.com/music/hear-kontusions-grisly-death-metal-blitz-unrelenting-pain

Pre-order the EP, here: https://kontusionkontusion.bandcamp.com/

Kontusion is the alliance of underground heavyweights Mark Bronzino and Chris Moore. Over the past two decades, Bronzino and Moore have both smeared their slime all across the musical map, each lending his talents to dozens of notable bands, from grindcore legends Repulsion to trap metal superstar Ghostemane. In Kontusion, these two old friends unite to spew forth their own singular vision of death metal, inspired by the primitivism of the genre's early greats. Kontusion's self-titled debut EP is a feast of fang-baring riffs and bone-shaking rhythms, buried under a thick blanket of graveyard mist. Death metal is Kontusion's medium, but the music possesses a rawness, a momentum, a fire, that points to years spent in the hardcore punk trenches. Top that with some theatrical flourishes (ripping guitar solos, '80s slasher flick synths) and Kontusion's cemetery-core is complete.

"Metal and punk are in our DNA" states Bronzino. "From Carcass, Bolt Thrower, and Terrorizer, to Discharge, Amebix, and Doom."

Revolver Magazine reports: “The utterly hellish vocals sound like a smoldering wave of infernal fires splashing and spitting up against the cavernous abyss below, while the instrumentation blasts forward with a savage aggression, at one point snapping into a humongously chuggy mosh part. Shit rules.”

Kontusion will hit the road in April and May for a tour of the East Coast:

April 28 - Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus Bar
April 29 - Philadelphia, PA - Johnny Brenda's
April 30 - Boston, MA - O’Briens
May 1 - Rochester, NY - Photo City Music Hall
May 2 - Toledo, OH - The Ottawa Tavern
May 3 - Indianapolis, IN - Black Circle Brewery
May 4 - Pittsburgh, PA - Rock Room

TRACE AMOUNT + KANGA

TRACE AMOUNT: industrial mastermind teams with synth-pop heroine KANGA on new single "Tone and Tenor"

Trace Amount has released new single "Tone and Tenor," featuring guest vocals and production by KANGA.

The track appears on Trace Amount's debut full-length album, Anti Body Language, out April 15th on Federal Prisoner, the label founded by Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan, The Black Queen, Jerry Cantrell) and visual artist Jesse Draxler.

Stream the track, here:
https://post-punk.com/trace-amount-duets-with-kanga-in-abrasive-industrial-track-tone-and-tenor/

Pre-order the album, here:
https://federalprisoner.shop/

Trace Amount is the solo project of Brooklyn-based producer, vocalist, and visual artist, Brandon Gallagher. First conceived in 2019, Trace Amount took shape during the early stages of the pandemic, inspired by the grim realities of life in New York City at that time, and has evolved at a lightning pace ever since. The sound is a harsh strain of industrial music, evoking apocalyptic dread through primal rhythms, layers of synth and noise, and Gallagher's distorted moans and screams.

Influenced by the daily grind of urban existence and paranoid visions of a hyper-technological world, Trace Amount sets a dark tone, but on Anti Body Language, glimpses of color appear from within the void. "Tone and Tenor," features the sumptuous vocals of Los Angeles-based chanteuse KANGA, whose many achievements include touring with Gary Numan and releasing albums via Artoffact Records. The album was co-produced by Fade Kainer (Statiqbloom) and mixed by Ben Greenberg (Uniform) at Circular Ruin in Brooklyn, NY. The album was mastered by Kris Lapke (Alberich).

Today's write-up on Post-Punk.com states: “The destructive nature of Trace Amount’s music is that of grand proportions. As a prolific artist in the pandemic era, the New York City-based Brandon Gallagher is the mastermind behind the Trace Amount project… His desire to collaborate is apparent, especially on his new EP, Anti Body Language, out via Federal Prisoner on April 15th. This time around, Gallagher recruits fellow harsh noise industrialist Statiqbloom as well as the dark synthpop heroine, KANGA… ‘Tone and Tenor’ is a nightmarish lullaby—one that most certainly won’t cradle you to sleep.”

Of equal importance to the music is Trace Amount's visual dimension, expressed through graphic design and video work created by Gallagher himself and by collaborators of his choosing, illustrating a mix of real urban decay and sci-fi fantasy that intersects with the sonic assault to complete the picture. For the Anti Body Language album cover, he teamed up with none other than Federal Prisoner co-owner and world-renowned artist, Jesse Draxler.

An album release show is booked for April 13th at Saint Vitus with Statiqbloom and Choke Chain.
