ACTORS - "Only Lonely"
Vancouver's ACTORS have revealed the music video for brand new single "Only Lonely," off upcoming new album Acts of Worship.
Acts of Worship will be released October 1st on Artoffact Records.
The music video depicts a bloody, Natural Born Killers-style romance, starring model Rachel Rampage and real-life beau, musician Justin Hagberg (3 Inches of Blood, Ritual Dictates).
Stream the video, here:

ACTORS' 2018 album It Will Come to You, also released on Artoffact, put the band's moody, anthemic style on the map, earning these words from Post-Punk.com: "Vancouver’s brilliant post-punk and new-wave quartet ACTORS continue their flair for sonic cinematics... The atmosphere quivers with singer Jason Corbett’s crooning reverb augmented by shivering guitars and stark synths."
Three years later, the follow-up is poised to break hearts and set fire to dance floors. Acts of Worship is an album of driving beats, massive hooks, and dramatic atmospheres – equally melancholy and electrifying.

EYES OF PERDITION - "When Deeply Ingrained Traumas Spill Forth Like Maggots in Carrion"
Las Vegas' Eyes of Perdition have revealed the music video for new track, "When Deeply Ingrained Traumas Spill Forth Like Maggots in Carrion."
The track appears on upcoming debut EP, Incendiary Truths, out August 13th.
Decibel Magazine's Brad Sanders, who premiered the video this week, states: "Their uncompromising hardcore/slam hybrid is as punishing and bone-dry as mid afternoon under the Mojave sun... The songs on Incendiary Truths sit squarely in the gloriously ignorant lineage of Internal Bleeding, with some of the desert-scorched vibes of Xibalba and Gatecreeper thrown in for good measure."
Stream the video and read an exclusive new interview with vocalist Lindsay O., here:
https://www.decibelmagazine.com/2021/07/20/video-premiere-interview-eyes-of-perdition-when-deeply-ingrained-traumas-spill-forth-like-maggots-in-carrion/
Fronted by Lindsay O., Eyes of Perdition churns out a desert-baked brand of heaviness, drawing from the slam side of death metal and the beatdown side of hardcore. With O.'s menacing vocals leading the way, Neanderthal riffs lumber forward — tar-thick and fueled by growling bass and double-kick hailstorms.
"Las Vegas is a strange terrain," says O. "Outside the glitz of the strip, it's a rough town. Lots of drugs and broken dreams. The local music scene is gritty and honest, without the pomp and circumstance of say, LA. The positive is that we get to do whatever we want. We're authentic; we're ourselves. The music we make is coming from a place of passion."
Lyrically, O. goes deep into her own personal traumas and comes out the other side bearing a message of positivity. She states: "Triumph over the self is a big part of my experience — learning to embrace inner darkness and transform it into something that empowers and informs your life. I've overcome some really heavy experiences by facing my demons and learning to listen to them. And it's through those experiences that I've come to accept myself. We can't grow or be our best selves unless we're willing to sit with ourselves in every storm, in every horrible experience and just feel our way through it. Then, nothing can shake your core, because you're the eye of the storm. That's true power."
Beyond Eyes of Perdition, O. is a multi-faceted artist whose heroes include Henry Rollins, Mike Patton, and Karyn Crisis, and whose musical outlets run the gamut from metal bands to Natalia, a solo project mixing electronic and rock elements. Stand by for more news about Eyes of Perdition and Lindsay O.'s other endeavors.

ZEALOT RIP + Cvlt Nation
Zealot R.I.P. started years ago when life-long friends, Jason Hamacher (Frodus, Battery, CombatWoundedVeteran) & Mike Schleibaum, decided to collaborate and write music that’s fast and heavy. Between Schleibaum’s relentless touring in Darkest Hour and Hamacher’s extensive documentary work in Syria, it took a few years for them to settle into a sound that’s somewhere between Entombed, Dead Kennedys and Born Against. The band was solidified with the additions of Pig Destroyer’s Blake Harrison and Fairweather’s Peter Tsouras. This metal amalgam, upon forming, went immediately into the studio and recorded a handful of brutally unhinged songs, released as a self-titled EP on Three One G in 2019. As a bizarre and radical opening reception to the world, Zealot R.I.P. played their first show at the Swedish Embassy in Washington D.C., as The Embassy hosted a concert and panel discussion around the history of Swedish metal.
“The Extinction of You” LP will be released on limited vinyl, 250 on gold and 250 on white, via Three One G Records on September 10, 2021. Preorder, here.
WINGTIPS - "Run for Shelter"
"Run for Shelter" appears on the Chicago duo's sophomore album, Cutting Room Floor, out September 3rd on Artoffact Records.

With their debut album, Exposure Therapy, released in 2019 on Artoffact, Segretario and Avalon stormed the scene with dark, infectious pop, drawing equally from slamming darkwave and lush synth-pop. Revolver Magazine called the pair a "devastating twosome" and Chicago Reader offered these words: "Goth-pop duo Wingtips captures the irresistible disintegration and woozy depths of The Cure's late-'80s sound."
Sophomore album Cutting Room Floor maintains a base in '80s sounds, but sees the band ascend to a new place of pure, timeless songcraft. With brighter melodies, deeper emotions, and a stripped-down approach that lets the songs shine, Wingtips have become something bigger than a retro act. With hooks so compelling they are cinematic in scope, and vocals that grab hold of the heart, Cutting Room Floor marks the genesis of a new style: "new romantic for post-millennial end times," in the band's own words.
"Writing 'Cutting Room Floor' was a much different experience than with our previous work," says Segretario. "In the past we certainly drew inspiration from '80s artists, and still do at our core, but this time we wanted to jump out of that mold. I think if anything, that’s how we’ve matured; simply doing more of what we want as artists and staying true to ourselves in the present moment."
The result is music that respects the past without being restrained by it. With utmost respect to the icons of yore, from Depeche Mode to Nine Inch Nails, Wingtips have graduated to a new place amidst contemporaries who are freely pushing forward into new realms – artists such as CHVRCHES, The Soft Moon, HEALTH, and FKA twigs.
The band will tour North America extensively in 2021 and 2022.

TUNIC - Quitter
Engineered and mixed by Jace Lasek (Godspeed You! Black Emperor) at Private Ear Studios in Winnipeg and mastered by Carl Saff (Bambara, Human Impact), the album will see an October 15th release on Artoffact Records.
https://tunicband.bandcamp.com/track/quitter
Formed in 2012, Tunic can trace its musical roots to the caustic, angular stylings of Big Black and The Jesus Lizard and their colleagues from across the AmRep and Touch and Go rosters. As displayed on Quitter's title track, pummeling drums, distorted bass, discordant guitar, and wild-eyed vocals combine and lurch forward like an Army tank of sound. Yet, Tunic is more transparent than its noise-rock heroes ever were. There is an earnestness that links the Winnipeg outfit to a line of more heartfelt ancestors — post-hardcore gods like Drive Like Jehu and Fugazi.
In the spirit of those latter bands, frontman David Schellenberg lays his soul bare as he screams his head off about the most personal of topics. On the song "Quitter," the subject matter is the departure of Tunic bassist and co-founder Rory Ellis, who left the fold after the recording of the new album, and Schellenberg's subsequent questioning of his own existence. "Your exodus was not mutual," he sings. "This inflated pastime, it strangles me."
"The whole record is about quitting," Schellenberg explains. Songs on the album examine the concept of "quitting" in various manifestations — from Ellis' exit, to Schellenberg's newfound sobriety and total overhaul of his life. "I quit smoking, drinking, and a job I had grown to hate," he says. "I quit being stubborn about my mental illness and finally started taking medication for it." From the ashes comes greatness; Quitter is the story of tearing things down so as to rebuild.
Prior to 2020, Tunic prided itself on playing a minimum of 100 shows per year. This attitude led to shows across North America with the likes of Metz, New Primals and Winnipeg brethren KEN mode. With the world reopening, the band revitalized, and a monster of a new album in hand, Tunic is primed to return to its intense touring schedule. "This music is meant to be played live and experienced live. I love to tour and there is nothing else I'd rather do," says Schellenberg.

KÆLAN MIKLA - Undir Köldum Norðurljósum
Pre-order the album (and stream the album's first two singles), here:
Bursting with the raw punk spirit and whimsical Icelandic visions which have fueled Kælan Mikla from the very start, Undir Köldum Norðurljósum takes the band's unmistakable sound and presents it in a manner even more lush and engrossing than before. Cinematic layers of synth, ethereal vocals sung in their native tongue, spine-chilling screams, driving bass and programmed drums combine to pull the listener deeper than ever into Kælan Mikla's world — a place of folklore and fairytales, magic and mysticism. As Revolver Magazine put it: “Theirs is a world where sweeping eerie soundscapes, irresistible post-punk hooks and dance beats couple with angelic voices and blood-curdling shrieks.”
Kælan Mikla was founded in 2013 as part of a poetry contest hosted by the Reykjavik Library. In 2015, the song "Kalt" was released and attracted attention abroad. From there, the band steadily ascended, releasing three LPs (all available via Artoffact Records) and touring heavily with the likes of King Dude and Drab Majesty and as headliners in their own right. Kælan Mikla was hand-picked by avid fan Robert Smith of The Cure, to play The Cure's 40th anniversary show, and has slain audiences at festivals such as Iceland Airwaves, Pasadena Daydream, and Roadburn. In 2018, the band's third album, Nótt eftir nótt, won Album of the Year at the prestigious Kraumur Awards in Iceland and landed on year-end lists in magazines and blogs worldwide. The upcoming fourth album, Undir Köldum Norðurljósum, is set for an October 15th release on Artoffact.
