The music video for “Plasma Rib Tanks” was directed by Mike Manasewitsch. Track is off of the band’s 2016 LP release, Voyage In Bad Taste, released on Sweatband Records. Digital Download + LP available here.

Lyrically, The Manx likes to make things “gooey and vibrant,” and the same can be said of their live performances (think sparkly hot pants and slime- lots of slime). In Plasma Rib Tanks, the goo-drenched gang encounter a dangerous alien foe during an innocent bake sale. From there, things get both messy and epic, as they usually do when this band is at the helm.

Mystery Skum and The Odyssey of Goo is a collection of previously unreleased tracks, remixes, reinterpretations, guest spots, and noise experiments, created as a companion to avant-garde punk act The Manx’s last LP, Voyage in Bad Taste. Guest features include Justin Roiland of Rick and Morty, Buzz Osborne (The Melvins), Ryan Kattner (Man Man, Honus Honus), JR Slayer aka Cody Votolato (Blood Brothers, Head Wound City), as well as many other respected artists. Lyrically, the band likes to make things “gooey and vibrant,” and the same can be said of their live performances (think sparkly hot pants and slime- lots of slime). Topics range from being eaten by huge moth larvae, to the mundaneness of office life, to the pitfalls and hypocrisies of organized religion, to the feelings one might experience if their entombed and mummified grandmother came back to life after having been dead for 5,000 years. It’s all very visual, cryptic, and fun, which aligns perfectly when considering the fact that the majority of the band members work or have worked for projects such as Rick and Morty, Uncle Grandpa, Eric Andre, and Robot Chicken (as only a small sampling of their extremely impressive collective creative resumes).

Animated and slime-slathered, The Manx have morphed over time from an acoustic folk-punk three piece into their current form- an explosive, bubble-fueled, arcade-amped quintet featuring obscure instruments, cartoon stylings, and their own wonky lexicon. They are a surrealist, experimental punk act made up of full-time animators and artists for networks including Adult Swim, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Studios, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. Cynical and gritty but simultaneously whimsical, exotic uptempo orchestrations feature eccentricities such as the electric accordion, electric banjo, and upright bass. The Manx manifest an incredibly adrenalized, uniquely eclectic sound influenced by music ranging from GWAR, to The Locust, to They Might Be Giants.
