An acoustic ballad laced with church bells and synth, "Cry" is an outlier on an album otherwise filled with hard rocking post-punk, but lyrically it expresses the theme of surrender that runs through much of Body Stuff's work. "I want to cry, I want to cry, but the world spins around and time flies by, and out here in the field it's all right," sings frontman Curran Reynolds.

Released in October, Body Stuff 5 was engineered and mixed by longtime Body Stuff collaborator Ryan Jones and mastered by Ted Jensen (Madonna, Metallica). The album follows three EPs and one full-length, released steadily since 2013 when Reynolds first launched the project. A review in the October 2026 issue The Wire Magazine states: "Amid all the gloom, doom and aesthetics of grit around us, it's refreshing to hear a rock album that wears hope on its sleeve without pretending the world isn't on fire. Bob Mould did it last year with 'Here We Go Crazy'; now Curran Reynolds brings the same iridescent zeal to his long-running solo project's 'Body Stuff 5.' This is a big, bold record, decidedly of and from New York City, with melodic new wave elements clashing against harder metallic riffs and Reynolds's voice riding triumphantly..."

The "Cry" music video consists of live Body Stuff footage shot by Jackie Roman at TV Eye in NYC.

In addition to the new album, Reynolds has released a book titled Body Stuff World Peace, compiling all the Body Stuff lyrics to date.
